American abolitionist, author and orator Frederick Douglass was born on February 14, 1818.


I sincerely hope that Frederick Douglass’ name and work is already familiar to you. However, if the legacy of one of the most influential Americans is currently unfamiliar, no worries, you can check out this PBS documentary series about Douglass. If you’re in or around Boston this month, you can check out the Museum of African American History’s new exhibition, “Being Frederick Douglass.” I hear tell there’s a Douglass hologram.
